<p>REQUIREMENTS:<br />
• A Bachelor Degree in Biology, Zoology, or a related field. Or High School Diploma or General Education Development certificate (GED), and two (2) years of experience in a zoological or wildlife park environment.<br />
• Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver&#8217;s license, or equivalent out-of-state driver&#8217;s license. The driver&#8217;s license must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the two (2) year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.</p>
<p>The Marine Mammal Trainer/Zoo Keeper performs all aspects of marine mammal training and husbandry. This includes assisting in establishing proper diet and feeding protocols, maintaining clean, safe animal areas and<br />
exhibits, training and maintaining husbandry behaviors, public presentations, water quality monitoring, behavioral observations, animal enrichment, collaborating on exhibit design and construction, administering appropriate treatments or corrective actions and maintaining accurate records. This position is also responsible for the husbandry and care of birds, fish, amphibians, reptile, invertebrates, and other animals.</p>

<p>Requirements: Experience working with a variety of mammals, particularly the species in <a href="http://www.zooatlanta.org/" target="_blank">Zoo Atlanta’s</a> collection; Good written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with zoo visitors; Able to function as a team member and get along well with co-workers; Zoo Atlanta is open to the public 363 days out of the year, therefore, all positions at Zoo Atlanta may require employees to work some weekends, holidays and evenings; Must have a positive attitude supporting department goals and those of Zoo Atlanta; Experience with operant conditioning and enrichment techniques. </p>
<p>Education: Four year degree in biology, psychology, or related field (sufficient relevant experience will be considered in partial fulfillment of education requirement). At least one year of prior animal care experience or internship at a zoological facility.</p>
<p>Duties: Specific responsibilities include participating in daily husbandry, exhibit maintenance and visitor interaction programs, and observing and reporting animal behavior and health to supervisors and veterinary staff. <p>Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and autoclave all cages, racks and bottles as needed; Check and fill all water bottles; Monitor operations of barrier rack systems and care for transgenic mouse population, following precaution techniques and protocols at all times; Sweep and mop all floors in all animal housing rooms; Report all animal health problems to supervisor and veterinarian-on-call; Record temperature and humidity in all holding rooms, and sanitation cycle temperature strips in log books, for review by inspectors as required.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Helen Woodward Animal Center is currently seeking an animal care technician. Qualifications as follows: Some animal handling experience required, preferably in a kennel environment. Able to properly handle, exercise, and control large dogs and/or cats difficult cats and exotics. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team environment. Must have good verbal and written communication and prioritization skills. Must be detail oriented and organized. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. Ability to work closely with animal (dog, cat, exotics) hair/dander.<span id="more-40"></span></p>
<p>Accurately complete daily duties which include maintenance of animal records, provide animals with necessary bedding and water, meet standards for exercise, attention, feeding, hygiene, and light medications as required. Continually monitor pets and their kennels to check for needed supplies and care. Extensive time spent cleaning kennels to provide a safe and healthy environment for boarding pets. Keep supervisor apprised of assigned animals’ emotional and physical condition, reporting any signs of stress or other health issues in a timely manner. Assist fellow employees and other departments as needed. This individual provides daily care for various species of animals. Duties will include daily observation; feeding and watering; sanitizing and/or sterilizing animal cages and equipment; exercising and providing environmental enrichment. At times, the Technician will be required to assist veterinary and research staff with animal procedures such as the collection of biological samples and the administration of medications and treatments. The Technician must receive and store materials/supplies as well as maintain animal records.<span id="more-38"></span></p>

<p>High School Diploma or equivalent and one year minimum of animal care experience or six month of experience in an animal research facility.
